Chiller optimisation at MaiaShopping cools down costs

• Just by changing operational strategies and without any investment needed, it can be achieved significant cost and electricity consumption reductions.
• Through a detailed analysis and several tests to different scenarios, potential savings of around €30,000 were identified by the team.

The solutions found to reduce electricity consumption and costs consist in:

• • Peak-shaving – minimize energy costs during electric peak tariff periods by means of chiller shutdown near the end of the peak period and/or increase of chiller set-point during part or the whole peak period.
  • Chilled water temperature reset – maximize chiller efficiency by increasing chilled water temperature during less demanding outdoor conditions.
